Our Story

We are more than just a farm, we are a community. Our mission is to offer a supportive space for learning, building connections and making sustainability accessible to all.

Sustainability is a word we knew nothing about before 2017. Prior to buying our farm that year, we lived a pretty typical suburban life. We had a small garden in our backyard but most of our food was bought at the grocery store, with an occasional trip to the local farmers market. We didn't compost organic material and we sprayed weed killer on dandelions in our yard. Then we watched a documentary on Netflix that talked about the food chain, and how the average person can make small changes to help create a more sustainable community. The earth shifted under our feet a bit. Our quest towards being better stewards of the land and fostering sustainability within our family became a focus.

Our initial goal was to grow and raise what we could to feed our small family. We got to work planting a garden and added beef cattle, feeder pigs and egg laying chickens to our land. We immersed ourselves in learning as much as we could about farming in a way that felt more traditional and that represented our values.

As we continued to grow, we realized the need to be involved with the food chain and live more sustainably extended beyond our little farm. We were soon able to provide our neighbors, and then the larger community, with high-quality food raised with love and care. Food that they could feel good about eating because they knew the source and they knew us. This is where our passion for community sustainability began.

Community sustainability is all about working together to create a healthy environment for all. It’s about responsible care of our land and our food sources, and it’s about supporting local farmers. When done as a community, sustainable practices (starting a garden, composting, avoiding chemical use and eating locally produced food) can change everything. We can do this together, learn from one another and leave this world a better place for generations to come.

We look forward to welcoming you to our community. Come out to the farm, feel the earth under your feet, listen to the hum of the bees and the crow of a rooster, see the flowers dance in the breeze and be part of a revolution. Agriculture isn't just for big farms. You can be a farmer in your own backyard. All it takes is a bit of patience, a sense of purpose and a willingness to believe in the power of community.
